Cold, Wet, and Wind were the words of the day. Rain jackets on as we warmed up, let every other body part to start getting cold and wet. Runners High showed up late with the numbers and timing chips so we had to warm up, get cold, and then warm up again. Ran the new disc wheel for the first time (in a race) today. I think I found the wind limit...as I was nearly blown across the road on more then one occasion.
The race start off great 26-27mph avg., then I hit the wind. I realized my waterproof booties did little good as the water ran down my legs and into my shoes...oh well. Now I started to turn into the wind and got pounded, but then everyone else did too. If we hadn't known the course so well I'd have been more upset about the misplacement of mile markers 10-12. I tried to stand to build up some steam with about 1.5 miles to go but the legs quit and ended up costing me 10-20 seconds until I got going again. I finished with my best time in the last 9 or 10 years on that course. After the results came out I was pleasently surprised to find out that everyone was slower by about 2 minutes from where they would normally finish because of the weather.
