Nice course, little rough on the pavement in spots. There was a stiff headwind on the way out making you feel miserable and that you couldn't be doing worse if you tried. Not knowing the course I was searching desperatly for the turn around. Once around it was a whole new race, I soon found my speed up to a rather respectable level.
I know I made up significant time on the way back, of course so did everyone else. There were spots I was motoring along upwards of 32mph. At one point about 22mi into the course I had been averaging 27 for some time on the way back and took advantage of a little dip and raised the speed 29.5. So at this point I was feeling pretty good, then had my world rocked as Pat O'Donnell (of TX Roadhouse) came roaring around me like I was standing still.
All in all I had a good race with a new PR dropping some 4 minutes from last year. I'm still coming up short of my goal but it's still early.
